Our Secretariat strives to meet the educational, social, and cultural needs of vulnerable girls (and eventually boys) through provision of basic needs to enable vulnerable students pursue their education in public secondary schools in Malawi.
Limbikani is a versatile, results-driven professional with over 20 years’ experience in higher education and broadcast communications. She has a strong background in creating, writing, and producing communication pieces, as well as comprehensive experience developing exceptional relationships with clients, peers, senior leadership, students and communities to provide successful programs and solutions. Before joining the Trust, Limbikani has worked as a Dean of Academics at the African Bible College, Head of News and Programs with the Times Group and Communications Manager for World Vision Malawi.
Limbikani comes to Girls’ Education Trust with exceptional skills in critical thinking, community outreach, and public relations stemming from her experience as a news editor, researcher and educator. Limbikani has a Doctorate in Education from Grambling State University (Louisiana, USA), a Master’s degree in Mass Communication also from GSU, and a Bachelor’s degree from the African Bible College (Lilongwe, Malawi). Dr. Kamlongera is also a certified Leadership Coach, very passionate about people, especially marginalized groups, development work, health, climate change, girls and women empowerment and broadcasting, areas in which she has a very strong set of skills. To relax, Limbikani loves to read spy-thrillers and who-dunnits, watch movies, and listen to music.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Sociology (2010) from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College; and a postgraduate certificate in Community Development from Nordland University, Norway 2011. Currently, she is studying for a master’s degree in Global Health at College of Medicine.
Deborah has worked with different organizations as a Community Facilitator, Project Coordinator as well as a Social Researcher. She has over 10 years of experience in research, project coordination, Program Management, monitoring and evaluation.
As the Program Officer for Girls’ Education Trust, Deborah is responsible for program development, project management and budgeting. Deborah also has expertise in developing program initiatives and is responsible for administration of the scholarship and mentorship programs under the Trust. Part of her core functions also include building and maintaining partnerships.
Deborah believes that “Education opens up opportunities for vulnerable girls especially in societies and communities where such prospects are oftentimes limited. Education allows for girls to make choices about their lives instead of succumbing to the pre-determined roles that society offers up”.
Mr Mbeza is a Financial Management Expert with vast expertise in Public Finance, project Management and Audit among others. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from The Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) and a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Malawi, The Polytechnic.
As of 2022 Mr Mbeza has over 14 years of work experience. He has worked with KPMG as an Auditor, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development as a Financial Analyst/Ag Director of Finance at Kasungu District Council, as Public Financial Management Coach with the Support for Service Delivery Integration (SSDI) Systems – USAID funded Project, as Financial Management Specialist with the Higher Education, Science and Technology (HEST) – African Development Bank Funded Project, as Public Financial Management Specialist with the Local Government Accountability Performance (LGAP) – USAID funded Project and as Chief Accountant/ Head of finance for the Malawi Legal Aid Bureau. Mr Mbeza has also consulted for several start up businesses setting up financial systems and internal controls and has experience of staff training in finance both within a classroom setup, as well as on the Job training.
To relax, Mphatso loves spending time with his family (his wife and two girls). He enjoys gardening; football and traveling (he says he is a ‘tourist’ at heart).
